Young Person’s Guide

Creating stronger futures for young people through relational care and support

Anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you. It is important to us that you feel safe, valued and supported to be the best version of yourself. It is important to us that everything we do is with kindness and compassion, even when everything is at times tough. We believe with tailored support and guidance your individual needs will be met and you have the right things in place to develop and build on the motivation and skills you have and need to lead a fulfilling and rewarding life now and in the future.

SET UP

We want your room to feel like yours whilst you are here. We also want you to take pride in living in a clean, safe and healthy home. Your room comes equipped with the essentials you will need, such as furniture, bedding, towels, essential food and toiletries, fridge, kettle and the essential kitchen equipment and a few other homely touches as well as space to add your own personal items too. As well as having your own room you also have shared access to communal rooms and the whole building has wifi.

To ensure your privacy and security, you will have your own key or fob to your room. This way, you can control access to your room and have a sense of independence and security as well as being able to come and go

How will you support me?

We want you to know your wellbeing, safety and individual needs are our top priority. That’s why you will have your own mentor who works with you on a one-to-one basis during your mentoring sessions.

Your support plan is tailored to you and focuses on the outcome goals you are working towards achieving as part of becoming more independent. Your plan covers various aspects of your life, such as employment, training or education, your physical health and wellbeing, relationships, keeping safe and of course running a home! We use outcome goals (which you and your mentor work on developing together) and you get to score your progress against the goals to agree what areas you need some support with and the level of support needed.

Agreement

Your dedicated worker will be there to guide you through your tenancy agreement, which serves as your agreement during your stay with us. They will take the time to explain all the details and answer any questions you may have. This agreement is an important document that outlines key information, such as rent payment details, our expectations, and the house rules such as no smoking or vaping in the building.

We know that everyone messes up sometimes, but there are consequences for breaking the rules of your agreement. If this happens, we will work with you to put things right and how you can avoid being in this position again.

Coming and Going

While you are free to come and go, it is important for us to work together to ensure your safety. We may have some agreements in place to help guide you on how to stay safe while you are out and about and when you are due back. Depending on where you are living depends on what time you are expected back and when and how to keep in touch. The young persons guide for each home will give you more details on this or you can ask a team member to let you know what happens.
